1991 Bear Hawk
The Bear Hawk (BÃ ¤renadler) might not seem all that special at first glance, but for some reason, I've always really liked it. When we were kids, a friend of mine had one, and I always loved the design, especially the dish wheels combined with that beautiful blue color.
I recently found this one on German Kleinanzeigen for just 50 euros. After some chassis restoration, actually replacing the chassis entirely with a rerelease Blitzer Beetle one, replacing rear wheels and tires from Manta Ray, it now looks almost brand new. The only issue left is the front tires. If anyone out there has a set for sale, I'd be happy to buy them! It seems like they were only made for this car but I'm not entirely sure.
As for the stickers, I initially reached out to MCI and received a set, but unfortunately, they didn't quite match the original look in my opinion. Then I contacted Nathanael, and he generously made me a new set for free, using grey instead of the silver reflective paint. That's what I call excellent service and dedication. Huge thanks to him!
Right now, the body is soaking in brake fluid and will be repainted soon. On top of that, I've picked up another Bear Hawk in rougher condition, which I plan to convert into a runner for my garden and nearby forest trails. I'll probably swap the red shocks for some oil shocks on the runner to improve performance. And since I now have an extra set of stickers, that one will look great too.
