Project Silver Bullet
Here is a project car I have been working on it's a FX-10.I have set out to show that a Fx-10 can be a good racing buggy but after this project was done there was not much left of the old runner.
The first major problem besides it's not a Tamiya is the front A-arm set up, there realy is not much you can do to make the stock set up better besides putting on oil filled shock, and that does not help much anyway. I took the hole front end and pretty much tossed it in the can and swaped it with a CRP Double A-arm suspension. Now this kit does worlds of good for this car to start with it is a double A-arm set up insted of a single arm set up witch lets you set the camber insted of just burning the out sides of the front tires off. The camber is fully adjustable from +3 deg to -3 deg this lets you corner better and stick to the track better than the stock front end witch would just try to push through the corner because there was hardly any tire on the track. Also with the oil filled alum. shocks on the front it takes out the bounce that the stock front end is well know for.'Kind of takes the fun out of driving it!! :p
Next I moved on to the rear end of the car. the major problem with the gear box is the gear and the axels!! :p I tore the hole thing down and junked the gear case because it was cracked and droped in a full set of Team Blue Star bearing witch are stainless bearing that are teflon sealed they are super smooth the best made I think. After that came the best part a Thorp rear end for a Fx-10 I looked long and hard for this but a racing friend had one used but he had the hole thing, droped that in and a set of thorp axels and out put shafts and smacked on a M&Y motor '17 turn' and the rear end was done.
For the rest of the car I painted it Indy Silver with flames and a HPI wing, and a CRP Alum. front skid plate. I also have on the way a set of dish style rims comming from 'Rich A.K.A Biggusditchus Thanks man!!' I beleve he said they came off a cat, and a set of Losi alum oil filled shock 'Alum. finish'. I have not decided on what tires I'm going to run yet we will have to see when I get the rims..
As you can see in the pick of the stock Fx-10 setting next to the project car the front sets alot strighter up and down than the stock one , and the travle of the front suspension has been increased by about a 1/4+ of a inch..
The buggy is complet now 'Rich A.K.A Biggusditchus Thanks man!! For getting the parts I needed to finish this buggy.
