This is going to be my runner for Spring Drive 2004 at Snetterton. Bought from James at Fusion - excellent guy to deal with as ever - the kit arrived in great shape today and here's the first pic. The kit looks basic but OK so I have some hop-ups coming from HK to make sure I can kick UKClaire's Taisan GT2 into touch. I have some TRF Fluorine Dampers, Racing Steering, Aluminium Motor Mount and Carbon Upper Deck on their way and will couple this up with a set of bearings from TWINSET. Lob in a Trinity 11x2 and no-limit ESC and I reckon I'll be onto a hot piece of kit. Let's hope I don't crash on the first corner...!!!

***Update*** I have now built the car and got it half painted. The kit itself is nothing like the quality of, say a TA-02 with many shiny and brittle feeling plastic parts. I already stripped 2 plastic threads without even trying. Gonna have to epoxy those up or something. Looks nice with the hop-ups, especially those TRF fluorine coated dampers. Car feels heavy though, but will go like a rocket...! Body colour is a Kandy Apple red and looks absolutely stunning. Photos do it no justice. Might even get another body to spray up entirely in that colour as it's just lovely. Also, have bought a Tamiya Super Modified 11t motor to go in this. A top-of-the-line motor for a basic car. The motors actually cost more than the TT-01 kits - how nuts is that...? Got a stonker of a deal on the motor though (see elsewhere in showroom).

***Update*** Stripped threads were in fact a crumbled chassis...! Chassis was badly moulded so I'll source a new one and we'll be sorted.

***Update*** New chassis supplied by Fusion Hobbies FoC - Thanks James...!

***Update*** Ran the car for the first time today after installing no-limit ESC and Sanwa r/c system. Holy schmoly does this thing move...!!! Never driven a touring car before and was in awe at the precision with which you can place the car. A totally different driving style to the buggies. Whereas with the buggies you launch the car into a slide and then drive it on the slide into the apex of the turn on opposite lock, with the touring car you just blink and it turns in...! Not so sharp at high speed, understeers a bit there (no front one-way or ball diffs here) and seems really twitchy at high speed, other than that, man alive does this rock...! Well happy...!

***Update***I have now installed a new Futaba 40MHz r/c system, aluminium propshaft and aluminium motor heatsink. Car weigh four tons but goes well. No slap off the centre propshaft any more either :)

The kit as it arrived from Fusion Chassis built up including hop-ups Mmm. GORGEOUS TRF dampers Stunning colour. Photo does it no justice...! Racing steering and carbon brace closeup All finished - looks cool...!

Absolutely fella, it's gonna be a corker...! Dunno if I'll be able to keep up with your TRF Pro or whatever it is. You'll spot my car mind, it's the silver and red missile in front of a red Porsche...!

Heh heh, I feel a tamiya shootout at dawn coming on...! Well, okay, not dawn, the Stella will see to that, but you know what I mean...!

It's cheap and cheeful at the end of the day. Great entry level kit and looks lovely. Made in the Phillipines and not Japan...

During the assembly of my tt01 subaru I also had mixed feelings about the quality of the chassis. I had the same problems with one thread, but luckily this does not affect the overall performance. It seems like the plastic of the chassis is simply too soft. Anyway, the TT-01 chassis is a great entry level car. Found a cockpit without heads for 3 EUR.
