eBay find, someone's winnings, my gain
I spent under $100 on this one. It was the prize for some races in California and the winner intended it to go to his nephew. The nephew wasn't that interested. I bought it and got a new kit unbuilt aside from the decals being placed on the prepainted body. I love the vettes of all years and to see Tamiya make the C5R was a great thing, to buy one less than retail and new was even better. The original body and wheels/tires will not be used to save the presentation shelf queen factor. I have a runner body of an HPI Porsche 911 that I picked up at a LHS prefinished for only $15!!! I did use Tamiya Porsche 911 gt wheels from perfect shops. Those guys are great for newer part numbers and reasonable on the older parts they get.

Nice 'vette. What are you going to do to make it faster and handle better?
Would you mind if I used your shell for racing?

Well Bradd, for now I have just added some NiMH 3300 battery packs and that makes it quite speedier. It does have a vintage Pocket Rocket motor. I guess I shall have to work on this one now that there is a local track I can pratice on. Thanks for the help and keep up the detail work. As far as using my shell, well now I can and I have ONE spare for those shelf queen days, so the answer is NO you can't use my shell for racing. In case you didn't know, the yellow shell is prepainted and VERY hard to come by in the states.

The Vette looks great with those wheels, great deal for the price!

Yes,well Rhen, The vette is now $100 with Tamiya USA on their website. Great deal, could be cheaper if you had a friend at a Hobby shop.
