My lunchbox! I havent had it long. This is the cause for me getting back into Tamiya. I had always fancied one so when I spotted this on eBay I just had to have it! It did look a lot better but I recently decided to have a go at respraying the body. As you can see Ive not got very far with it yet but at least Ive made a start!
UPDATE 06/06/04 - Well Ive finally sprayed the lunchbox. The shell was a bit of a mess as you can see from the first pic. I did my best to clean as much of it up as possible. Unfortunatly whilst the body was soaking in brake and clutch fluid the left over decal adhesive melted into the body in a couple of areas. I managed to sort most of it out but its not perfect. As its only a runner shell I wasnt too worried. Just need to decide what decals to use now. As this was my first hard body spray job Im quite pleased with the results. Let me know what you guys think!
Its also now fitted with cva shocks that I purchased from Victor101. To fit the shocks I needed some U brackets so a BIG thank you goes to fellow Tc member Disco for supplying them totally free of charge! Thanks Disco!
I will in time source some new chrome work for it but at the moment Im not too worried. Im just glad to have it back together so I can use it!

Sweet paint job. I'd say forget the decals, looks nice and clean as it is, or just put a few subtle stickers on.... and some lights too

As for your paintwork, it looks dead on from the photos mate. Only thing is, and obviously doesn't matter much, but I think I might have carried the purple around the back instead of the blue. Otherwise, I like what you've done with it chap!

Cheers for the comments guys. RRT - in hindsight I wish I had done the purple round the back but I was still pretty happy with the way it came out. Its all covered in gravel rash now so a respray may be on the cards in the summer! lol!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think of that a lot, wishing I'd done this or that differently, but I don't run mine so I can't justify re-paints (unless they are just horrible.) Just a thought, something I learned from another TC member. If you do repaint, you might want to use an enamel clearcoat. It makes for a very hard, durable finish, and it looks killer. Not sure if they offer it on that side of the pond, but Testors makes a cheap one, can #1814, that sells for about $3 at Wal-Mart here. If you do decide on using it, follow the can directions, use several coats, and let it sit for at least two weeks before you handle it much. Nice work though, especially for a first 'hard body' spray job!
