Ok when I was young I remember seeing the Blizzard in catalogs all the time, and it was the DX, I came so close to getting it many times but never did as money is scarce when you are young. Well I finally snagged myself one on the Bay, not cheap $330, but it came with plow, box, and instructions, with the tractor and transmitter to boot.

Sadly however when I got it there was more abuse than I wanted, this made a perfect restoration out of the question, also due to the fact that there are really no parts available for the DX version. So I stripped the body, painted her up and made some decals that are similiar to originals but different colors and some different shapes, but resembles the box art a little. Also slapped some more paint on the lexan interior. The previous owner used a chemical on the left side of the cab that blurred the plastic a little, so the drivers window is fuzzy. There was also some damage done the the roof lights from some weird paint that for some reasom was applied to the top of the lights. This meant I had to strip those and paint them silver instead of the factory chrome. The strobe light however is in perfect working condition. :-)

The lifting mechanism for the plow was nowhere to be seen, so I had to make a setup for that, works well though and lifts the blade up real high to avoid obstacles. I wanted to remove the transmission to super clean that but the axles are seized in their sprockets, so I had to clean those in place. The tractor runs on two speed controllers, both were mechanical but I replaced the one that controls throttle with a cheapie esc, the other splits power from motor to motor for turning and that had to remain mechanical. I was able to remove all the suspension and tracks to clean and lubricate everything, then I gave the wheels a shot of silver paint.

There were a lot of dissapointments when working on this bugger but the end result looks real good to me and it is fully functional and a total blast to drive, the dogs hate it when I use the plow to push their toys around the house. This guy will sit proud on my shelf and I will enjoy driving it from time to time, hopefully one day it will be joined by the newer version of this one.

It has 2 selectable gear ratios, I have it set for the high torque low speed gear for more realism. I'd say 5-6mph top speed in that gear.
