The Monster Beetle is right up there with the Blackfoot- one of my favorites as it recalls many silly childhood memories of the 80's, like most of us. I built this in about a month with a good condition Blackfoot chassis and some NIB parts. It's still missing the driver but we all know how much I love painting drivers (ha!) so I'll get to it someday. The candy red over chrome silver came out perfect, with a deep, rich finish. It's a Blitzer body w/ MB nose cone airbrushed with Tamiya acrylic clear red over alclad. Once cured I wet-sanded and hand buffed the finish. The results are stunning. Some bling with the King Blackfoot wheels and a little silver accent. I love this build and I am very happy to have done it. After these pics were taken, I was able to find a NIB G-tree which contains the much needed servo covers and front lights.

NICE looking cars... GREAT choice of color. BTW, what time of paint did you use...

RCDad, The Beetle is painted with a chrome basecoat then topcoated with Tamiya acrylic color 'clear red' with a little clear orange mixed in. It's all airbrushed then color sanded/polished afterwards. It's tedious but well worth the efforts!

I was looking at your fourth pic. Don't you hate it when you have a great shot and then you find the stupid headlight wasn't all the way on?

How did you manage to space out the rear wheels? I have the Frog UJ's in the back of my bug but had to try a long set of hex adapters from (i think) a TL01 I had lying around. Did you change the rear drive shafts? I'd really appreciate your help on this. Thanks

Thanks for that, I managed to find a set of Frog adapters in the end that seem to work pretty well. My Thorp diff arrived today and the sun has come out so I may get to finish painting a little later.
