**PLEASE READ THIS** for anyone looking at this model displayed in my showroom and wondering if I will sell it? PLEASE DON’T ASK!!! I get numerous requests from TC members wanting to buy cars displayed in my Tamiyaclub showroom, and to be honest I get very annoyed when people ask to buy something that is clearly NOT FOR SALE!! This car is part of MY COLLECTION and as such I want to KEEP IT!! So please don’t Email on the off chance that I might sell it to you, if I want to sell any of my cars I will put them up for sale in my TRADE ROOM, so look there to see what cars I am prepared to sell otherwise don’t bother asking cos the only answer you will get is NO!!! thanks for reading this disclaimer. Regards wldnas.

I’ve felt the need to own all three of the Kyosho Pegasus derivative cars ever since I got into this RC collecting lark, but my efforts to reach this goal have been laboured at best, but not until recently has that dream reached fruition and getting a Running Cosmo has been a very long and drawn out process.

My first Cosmo was offered me by Stulec, he had acquired one in another trade and didn’t really see the need to keep it as it had a badly broken joint were the gearbox screws onto the chassis, he couldn’t do anything with it so passed it onto me for a nominal price.

I was thinking to myself that it couldn’t have been that bad, but when it arrived IT WAS :( the mounting surfaces on both Chassis and gearbox had completely snapped off and some large metal plates had been crudely fashioned by a previous owner to attach the Gearbox to the car, this entailed drilling huge holes into the back and underside of the rear chassis and affixing the plate with chunky wood screws.

I pride myself on the aesthetic qualities of my bodges but this was such an abortion of a job that It made me feel physically sick, I quickly removed the 10 tons of excess S***** metal from the area and found that the mount underneath was so badly smashed that a new Gearbox and chassis was the only way to fix the job, I stropped the whole car down to its component parts and boxed it up in vague anticipation of getting some parts to fix it with but I wasn’t holding out much hope.

A couple of months passed and I managed to acquire a new gearbox set, so the remains of the old one were duly discarded and after some cleaning up of the rear edge of the chassis some plastic links were fashioned that allowed me to attach the g/box to the chassis in something like its original condition, and I was well happy with that, A Proper wldnas quality bodge.

Some more time passed and I saw another Cosmo for sale this time on E**y, it was boxed, looked to be in pretty god condition and came with some spares so I bid on it and got it quite cheap, it arrived after a week or so and I was able to look it over properly but I had a bit of a shock instore...

This car had a broken chassis too :( the front suspension lower frame had snapped across just in front of where it mounts to the tub, and again it had been repaired with a massive clumsy plate, the rest of the car was so-so, the speed controller was missing, the body wasn’t that well painted and some extra holes had been drilled in the bottom of the tub were the plate fitted.

But I was now able to make one good car out of the two using the best bits from both cars and that is the car you see in picture one, I’ve recently fitted a radio to it so that goal of getting all 3 Pegasus siblings as runners is now within sight, the left over bits went onto to make the second car.

A later influx of spares allowed me to get rid of the broken tub altogether and replace it with the Icarus with the painted over dirt stains, a far better, smaller plate was made to repair the break in the front chassis that used the original mounting holes and it was paint black to disguise it better, its lacking a speed controller and the inserts for the rear tires but its mostly complete again but with my idea of thinning out my collection this 2nd Cosmo may become surplus to requirement, so if your interested keep you eyes peeled.

UPDATE (4th July 2003): I have just sold one of my two Cosmo cars, as many of the parts from both cars were swapped around quite a lot, neither of the two cars I had ended up with their original parts, the best bits where fitted to the car I have kept the other bits where fitted to my 2nd Cosmo which is the one I have Just sold to fellow TC Member WIKEDVETTE, so it should be appearling in his showroom soon.

This is my remaining Cosmo I've kept as a runner. This is the chassis of my remaining Cosmo. The first car as seen here all stripped down. The second car as it arrived in its box. the ugly chassis repair on the 2nd Cosmo. Just to show that I did actually have 2 Cosmo's.
