Me first Tamiya...aarrrr
This is the beast that started it all for me. I lived out every boys dream and purchased a truck from behind the glowing glass doors of a Hamley's display cabinet! The amount of times I stood in that place as a kid looking at all the 'bigs boys toys' and just wishing I could hold one. Twenty years later the dream was lived out! I was had for 350 fine British pounds but it was worth it. A pal and I bought the trucks as a pair and have had a riot with them. The best fun though was getting them back to Sussex on the train. It's hard enough getting yourself back in rush hour but a fully built truck, box and accessories, plus all the other gubbins we took with us?! Mission! We made it though, just.
For £350 the truck was built, painted and decaled. I also got the radio gear, a fast charger and a powerful battery. So all in all they still had me for about £200...swines!

You got a TD, pre built, plus radio gear charger and battery for £350..? *One* Twin Det..? Er...

Sadly, yeah...was a new release at the time...my only excuse! But what can I say. I was in the biggest toy shop in the world, holding the biggest truck I had seen (didn't know anything about these things) and the guy made it sound great. I was the foolish victim of great marketing!

I'm just amazed that they can get away with that! If it was recent, I'd report then to trading standards with the retail price of the thing. Ok, I know about London and Tourism, but that's properly ripping off customers... Oh well, at least you're happy with the truck!

You make me feel more guilty by the minute! At least my first car was free, which helped balance my losses!

but all that said the fun you can have with a twin det is priceless

The twin detonator is a robust car that certainly gives you loads of fun.
In Germany, the street price for this car is 139 EUR which equals 94 GBP (rounded up). So next time get yourself at least 3 for 350 GBP.
