As most people know some of the Monster Beetle kit's came with 'white' body kits and 'red' body kits. I've heard a number of stories behind when, why, and what Tamiya changed on these bodies. In my collecting days I've seen way more 'white' full kits and 'white' body kits than the red, so I figured I'd add one of these rare beauties to my collection. Some people say the early kits were red and some people say the later kits were red? Personally, I think it was the early kits that were in red and Tamiya made it easier and quicker for the builder of the kit to finish it without painting. The SS was white, the XLT was blue, and the Blackfoot being black were all done in the color matched molds. I'm not 100% on Tamiya's theory behind it?? Anyway, RARE 'red' it is..
