Started out as a $30 eBay purchase until my LHS owner gave me this Parma Baja Beetle shell- that's right - free Beetle shell! I told him I had just the chassis for it...
Really went together with minimal fuss. Just got a drill press for Christmas, so I gave it a maiden run on the rear body mount. I decided to use the upright posts to provide some crash protection.
The paint is all leftovers from other projects. The decals are Parma offroad decals; the printing is not very crisp but they do stick well. I also used some leftovers from my Touareg.
I left the head and tail light lenses transparent (the tails have candy red paint) and fitted Led lights all around.
Initially the electrics were upgraded with a TZ motor (looks cool) and a LRP ESC mounted high in the rear window. (also thought it looked cool!) Ultimately it was converted to Brushless with a Novak 5800 system. (See link below)

This is a great looking buggy!

Thanks guys! These Parma shells look like a near exact copy of a Scorcher body, but with the width of the Monster Beetle. Great substitute to the real deal IMO. Parma still sells these direct for $25 US so I might have stock up
