A Scorching little find to get Scorcher number 2
There are some times Im so glad I'm an English man cos only the english would grasp the irony on my situation right now, I was preparing to do an update on my aging Sand Scorcher post which I havent touched for the best part of 6-8 months, I go and take a load of new pictures, and get them all set up on the disktop ready to do the big update and what goes and happens.... I do a Cracking deal and get another more complete one!!!! :S
That show I did at Stoneleigh has really paid of big with this one, I had given out my phone number to some ppl who claimed thay had some old RC's at home they would be willing to sell, I wasnt holding out much home when a week later one of them rings up and offers to sell me their MIB Sand Rover for £80 that they had told me all about at the show.
So, I goes over, buys the Rover, very nice too and then I pops the question 'Have you got any more RC cars or parts?' the guy said he had and dissapeared back upstairs and a few minutes later comes down with a load of Tamiya boxes for the Sand Scorcher and Body sets for the Scorcher and Rough Rider not to mention a Holiday buggy body and a boxed vintage Futaba Radio.
A quick butchers revealied some tantilising parts and I offered the £60 for the lot which he was happy to expect, on going home I was so pumped at completing the deal that I nearly whooped and shouted myself horse, but it wasnt until I got home and sorted out the jumble that I'd bought that I realised the full extent of my haul.
When I started to sort it all out I found that most of the car was complete, it even had new and unused parts that are very hard to find, the chassis itself had been dismantled and put in the Scorcher Body set box, there were two Scorcher bodies in the main box, one was a bit old and rough and tthe other fairly clean and half tidy, the vintage futaba radio was readly installed in the radio box and a quick functions test where I wired up the radio and speedo to test the motor, after a few minor jitters it settled down and worked quite well and the motor seemed to be running well even if the speed controller only seemed to have one speed.
The majority of the chassis parts looked ok if a bit dirty but thats nothing a good strip and clean won't fix, but futher investigation revealed that the car wasnt all there, certain bits were noted by their absence, the rear torsion bars, rear shocks and front wheels are all missing but I think I may have the nessasary spares available so rebuilding the car should be a snap.
The two bodies I aquired with this car brings my grand total to 5, YES you heard right, I have five Scorcher bodies, not Monster or Blitzer bodies, Scorcher bodies, they vary in condition and at least 3 of them are worthy of restoration, but the best thing about this buy is the body spares Ive got, if you check out picture 5 you will see what I mean... ;) a complete Exhaust pipe still on the tree complete with the 3 clamps and the remains of the chrome tree with mirrors, door handels and VEW badge intact, I also have the little metal mirror brackets that go with it... $$$$ :D they on their own are worth more than the whole load of stuff I bought today.
I now have a desition to make, with all the bits I got with this I can't quite make a complete car, but if I was to take the best bits from this and my other Sand Scorcher I could probably make a practically complete Scorcher with only those pesky front and rear indicator lamps left to find, but with 5 scorcher bodies, surley I could make 2, one shelf queen and one back yard basher....? makes yah think don't it :)
UPDATE: I now only have two of the 5 Scorcher bodies left, I did buy another lexan reproduction body as well before I sold off the excess ones, so out of the 5 bodies you can see, the all Blue one was restored and used on my #1 Scorcher, the blxck and white one went to Tamiya Ranger Man and is now fully restored and in his showroom (and an Excellent job he did too) the Green one went to SPIKE and as far as I know is STILL submerged in brake fluid while Liam tries to loosen the stubborn paint ;) the Yellow and white one was traded in a deal with Professorslot along with the remains of my ~2 Scorcher chassis and the Lexan body for some rare cars from him and the old blue and whiet body was butchered for convertion into a Banger Car body but got all smashed up at Snetterton '03 and is now on my spares pile in a dreadful state awaiting it's fate :S

ANY IDEA WHERE I CAN GET A BLUE AND WHITE SHELL FROM IN ENGLAND?
wldnas
The Scorcher bodies only come in white and Black (Blitzer) plastic, you have to paint them to get them Blue and white
