The last great Tamiya buggy, so far!
I Bought this from Steve in the UK, cheers mate! It is brand new and has never been under power and never will be. It has the usual finer attributes of the upper line of Tamiya products, FRP chassis and plates, adjustable suspension, metal hexes, bearings, pink can motor, and the very smooth yet by all accounts short lived, Multi Disc Clutch. Assembly is straight forward enough, but that clutch has a lot of parts and could throw a beginner into a bit of a quandry, but for the most part, it is pretty straight forward. Not to wander from the subject, but those of us that send stuff back and forth across the pond need to take a few things into consideration. One of the best parts of a NIB of course besides breaking the bubbles, is the box. My man wrapped the original box, which was never intended to be a shipping box in paper and sent it ground. Needless to say, 7 weeks later it arrived destroyed. It was also ripped and I lost a tire and wheel, lucky they are not Avante wheels and tires! So the great effort and expense of obtaining a NIB and having the box was lost. It is expensive to ship items from there to here and the other way as well, but it adds insult to injury when thy are badly packed and not make the journey intact. A sturdy box and padding on all 6 sides, along with the body off the chassis, and no movement of anything in the box are minimum requirements. He did refund the shipping costs which was very good of him, but did so on his own, I didn't ask him to as the car is pristeen, NIB, and I have wanted one for almost a year. I got it for a good price and went for it around the first of Feb. I had been watching them and they go high and now I understand why. I like it as well as any of the other high end buggies and cars I have and think it is in the same class as the Top Evo and the Astute to name a few, it is nearly as well appointed as the Avante and a much better design. I say so far because I am interested in a DF chassis buggy, and yes I want nitro! I don't understand why Tamiya advertises their 2 speed for tarmac only, but I am sure I will get a chance to find out. This is painted box art, but thanks to Artie at Finishline Hobbies and a club member, I have a new body and sticker set, so it will get the clear window treatment when it comes up in line about 2010. I am actively seeking a GOOD painter, applications can be made at my contact address. If you know one that meets standard or above, please recommend one, I need a lot of paint work done. Keep your eyes peeled for a '68 Camaro in metallic blue with a super hopped up Kyosho chassis under it thanks to Spice.
