Custom grill guard (Isuzu Mu)
TC crash victim: (Description re-entered 14 July 2006)
Wish I would have done this with my Bruiser project, but then I didn't have a digital camera and computer (or TC) in the early 1990's.
I realized I should start documenting my scratch-built projects for reference which will be used in future vehicles.
Original design and made in my garage with handtools and woodworking machines. Hardest part? The design and measurements. Made from aluminum plate and angle bar from Home Depot (home store for non-U.S. members).
HELPFUL TIP: The way to get exacting, flat surfaces that match like laser cut? Over-cut part and grind away remaining material with benchtop belt sander. I use a Delta 4'X6' sander, model# SA446 Shopmaster. It's cheap, unbelievably useful and more accurate than one would imagine. It made the difference here. No CNC/laser used.
Homemade and original.
No welds. All bolted and quite strong
Guard/Attachment plate. Both bolt-ons
Measuring/fitting steel brush guard
'Painted-Perfection'
Tamiya could have made this. But why not?
