I have now received my huge Feigao 540C 9L brushless motor and Mtroniks Genesis Truck ESC from Starluckrc.com (Jamie there very helpful and friendly, also got a Feigao 380 8L for my MF2), 5mm pinion gear from rcmonster.com (as the 9L sensably has a 5mm shaft) and a new condition emaxx gearbox and 70t spur gear from Ebay (£45 + postage, ouch, must be all the people after them for gorillamax projects). I added a steel idler gear to the maxx 'box for the lower range gear selection as i hear the this is a weak spot. I fitted GPM steel trunbuckles all round. The Hitec HS945MG was there already.
The gearbox fits beautifully in the TNX with no adjustment, i just need to drill a couple of extra holes in the chassis to secure it better. Also, with a bit of sanding of the drive cups, i have been able to use the drivetrain from the TNX too, bonus!
I have laid out a possible battery configuration in the photos, with the batteries at either end across the chassis i should be able to keep the weight more along the middle of the truck and i can use short wires from the ESC to the motor which helps stop cogging. As the Genesis Truck can 'only' handle 12 cells, i don't need to worry about using longer packs in the future.
I have sanded the lower arms to free up the Powerstroke shocks, as recommended by Tamiya in the TNX-pro manual. I have also sanded down the lower two cooling fins on the by-pass, non sprung shocks for better clearence.
I have now almost finished securing the batteries and i have added a servo for the gear change.
Any ideas or comments please let me know :)
