Project Quick Nikko
This is my Nikko Alienator buggy. Originally I bought it from a friend after I accidentally damaged the stock electronics while tinkering with it. The chassis was slightly modified and hobby-class electronics were installed. The car spent some time as a general purpose runner but now is my Nikko drag car project. It's currently fitted with a Team Orion 11-turn SV2 motor, Futaba S3004 steering servo, HPI Star 2.2 rear wheels with Tamiya tires, a Nikko Discovery IP II transmitter, a Futaba receiver, a Venom Speed Meter, and full ball bearings. During the most recent run it topped out at 36 miles per hour. Since then a new adjustable motor mount plate has been added, gearing has changed from a 15-tooth pinion to an 18-tooth one, motor timing is advanced, and a new higher-spec programmable racing ESC is installed. Check back here for updates on top speed!
UPDATE: I have bought a Mamba Max 7700kv brushless system for the car. Once spring arrives and the roads are clear, expect speed records for a Nikko to be shattered.
UPDATE 2: The car has been rebuilt with new ball bearings, a new chassis (modified), a new gearbox, and new front suspension. This time the car is a lot cleaner. The goal is to keep the car as stock as possible, only upgrading the motor and keeping the weight as close to stock as possible.
UPDATE 3 - 2014: Still have this car. Top speed so far has been 33mph, but I have not attached a brushless system yet. Have a Castle system that will be going on it soon, but more engineering work is required to keep it composed at high speeds. I am working on adding oil shocks and fitting better tires, and reworking the aero. Updates to follow once I make some new personal speed records.
