Sand Rail
I started off with a Grasshopper, i ran it twice stock, and then got bored with it really, then i got thinking, how easy would it be to make it into a scale looking sand rail!
I heavily dremmeled down the rear gearbox, and mounted a 4 link suspension ( like crawlers ) and using Stock TLT Shocks that i deanodized using oven-cleaner.
Then, the shell looked all screwy with the extended wheelbase, so out came Dremmy again, this time with a cut off wheel, i hacked off the roof, and the rear of the shell ( Kept all the mounting holes though ;P ) and i am waiting to get some brass to make a custom cage!
Tyres are cut and dremmeled TLT Ones.
I Dremmeled out all unnecessary weight from chassis, and epoxied the battery door in, battery will be changed from top now.

I'm a big GrassHopper fan, so I'm curious to see how your build ends up. Love the innovation.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah, i can't wait to get it on the beach and give it a good run! I need to sort out the rear shocks yet, i can't fit a 540 in with them mounted like this, and it's a Sand-Rail, so i want a quick-ish motor, are there and decently quick 380's? It's only very light, so i don't NEED a 540.

THat does look brilliant. Can't wait to see it finished. As for motors l have no idea.

Mike, as always - great custom work. Can't wait to see it finished. Pete

Love what you've done with the TLT tyres. Probably be best to rethink the shock positions and go with the 540 as 380's are usually a bit poo in any guise. Nice work though mike

thats gona be one mean looking machine, very original! i was thinking of 4 linking my pumpkins gearbox - i like how you've done your rear suspension!

Neat project!

Great looking machine and what a cool idea! Couldn't you extend the (4) 4-link bars enough for the shocks to lean forward, allowing for motor clearance? Not sure how much would be neccesary, and if it would yield you an incredibly rediculous wheelbase, but it's just an idea! Lovin' the progress of it so far!!

Nice looking custom work as usual, I can't wait to see this project, very original. Cheers
