I bought this when they first came out but rather than rush to build it I saved it until I had some time to enjoy the build over the Christmas holiday. Plus, delaying the build gave me the time to acrue some custom parts!
It sports full ballraces (naturally!), Rad22Rad's superb alloy wheels (thanks Rad!), Shodog's faux damper resevoirs (thanks Jim), a bull bar from RC4WD, filled in antenna hole, a 55T motor and red wheel nuts. The headlights, tail lights and spotlights all work - I simply made up a loom and used 6v grain of wheat bulbs (20p each from e-bay!) taking current from the ni-cad. I was a bit concerned that 6v bulbs would blow or overheat but I bench tested them for an hour and they're holding up just fine.
I was a bit of pig to paint - black is probably the hardest colour to do especially when used in one single colour. I just took my time, spent hours wet sanding the various layers of primers, top coats and clear coats but I'm pleased with the result. The paint is glass smooth!
I really enjoyed this build - it really is a fantastic kit and testomony to Tamiya's excellent engineering! I'm just waiting for the multifunction unit and scollins' interior set to put the cherry on the cake!

Wow looks smashing, I love the color and detail also the lovely wheels and guard, I just ordered some similar alloy wheels from Bruiser Builder for my red lift. I don't usually love chrome, but it looks so very right with this truck. Great sense of style with this one.

Thanks Seth - I agree chrome usually isn't my thing either but it works well with black. I based the colours on my 1:1 truck.

absolutly gorgeous F-350!!! You make a fantastic and great job!!!!!! Looks really realistic. i hadn´t the courage to make it black, because the most RC´s in black looks not really good, but you prove that black is white!!!

If you used your 1:1 for color, let's see that, link it here. Also, could you update the post with the Part number from RC4WD for the bull bar?? It is the best looking one I have seen yet.

Crash Cramer - bull bar is: 'Ford F-350 Grill Guard
[X-0213]'. I will post some pics of my 1:1.

Thats a top class paint finish - black is the hardest colour to paint - The chrome really stands out. Is that the clod's licence plate i see there?

21-Mar-2007

Just browsing the site and just had to look one more time.

10-Apr-2007

Eric - get in touch with TC member Rad22rad - he's a top bloke and he'll sort you out with some wheels.

Thanks for your kind comments, nice truck looks mint. Did you see my F-350 I had it painted at the bodyshop that paints my Aston's & Ferrari's cost me £90.00 but is a car finish like yours. Best regards

Have you put the MFU unit in yet, It makes the truck. Worth it on a truck as mint as yours.
