Vette body on a salvaged TL-01
I wanted to do a street version of the C5-R, to eventually pose next to my father-in-law's new black 2007 model, and so here is the result.
To achieve the Chevrolet 'atomic orange' color, I used Tamiya's Translucent orange to start, then a light coating or two of Tamiya Silver, followed by more Translucent Orange, and finally Tamiya's Metallic Copper to finish it off. I backed it all with black as well.
The result is mystifyingly cool, as it has shimmers and tones that give the finish a complexity that is all its own. Or something like that!
As always, comments appreciated.
Update Feb 2007: I like the 5 spoke grey wheels better.
Update 2 Feb 2007: Just ran this thing outside and it looks so very cool in motion.

What a colour! Nice Photo's too. High Class finish Nice one!
Tamiya should make this all in one can! Very nice, very good with the C5-R ! Can you park it next to the black one and picture it?

I do really fancy that color, I will have to paint something with it at some point. Nice vette!
Love to see a C6, either stock or Z06 body by Tamiya. Nice C5!! Maybe a chrome rim would highlight the black wheels. Chop the posts!

A C6 body would be sweet. I've tried some chrome rims, and it looks sharp, but he black seems more mysterious to me. Knight Rider-ish, if you would. I thought about cutting the posts but I'm not sure it will stay on this chassis....
