Ground up tuber build
This is the first installment in a project that has been going about two months between myself and Bormac. I hope to keep this page up to date as things progress.
The concept is simple - a 1/10 sand rail that us dune capable and tough, as well as having that traditional sand rail look that seems so popular in the californian deserts of the u.s.
The fist installment is an assembly drawing of the car's design, I hope to start building this week, and I've already made a set of allow wheels, which should complement it nicely.
The front suspension is going to be duratrax evader graphite, with the rear made from a hybridised system of Kyoshi monster truck and a T-maxx diff.
Rear geometory will be semi trailing arm, using the driveshaft unis as the upper control arm (similar to a jaguar) with coilovers mounted to the rear roll hoop.
Front geometory will me unmodified Evader.
The motor will run n/s, and will drive a propshaft to the rear wheels only, using a 3.36:1 planetary gearbox.
Batteries will be mounted either side of the chassis rails in either a 3-3 or 4-4 configuration for either six or eight cells.
In time power will come from a brushless motor of some description.
Anyway, here are the first photos, let me know what you all think.
Cheers

Well the duratrax front end is out, as it's imperial, and as we all know imperial measurement systems are a tool of the devil, so I've ordere an aftermarket aluminium DF03 front end, that I'll use M03 stubs in to account for the 2WD thing.
I've now fitted the trailing arms and the diff, and the chassis is almost finalised. This is a breif update, but I've been working nights, so the next installment will have more info.
Cheers

Well, the chassis is now coming together nicely, the diff is fitted, as are the lower suspension arms, C cups and uprights. The wheels work with the DF03 gear (as you'd expect, I supose). If you squint, this now looks like a chassis. Next will be the rear axle carriers, and the shock towers, unless something else distracts me and I decide to do it first.
Cheers!
