Scollins/Toymkr73 joint effort
This model comes to me through the creative hands of TC’s own Steve Collins aka Scollins, he built this gorgeous chassis to fit my Kyosho Nostalgia series 1/9 scale body. Steve used a Top Force rere kit to bash together a truly stock looking chassis. It looks as though it came from tamiya this way. Steve basically took my body and presented me with a complete ready to paint kit. He even cut the body for me (perfectly I might add) He sat the beauty down on a set of HPI wheels and tires, a perfect fit for the fender flares.
Now to the story or excuse to as why it has taken me sooo long to paint this gem. The first part was that I was afraid to do a crappy job and not do the chassis justice…And second I hate the way white looks on lexan shells. I love the original paint scheme on the skyline so I was not real eager to go with a different color…Now I have to send props out to tc member and all around great guy Jun aka Cardesigner. Just as I was looking at alternative paint colors, Jun posted his PIAA Porsche. And he also was nice enough to give up the secret to how to get a great looking opaque white paint job on lexan shells. First spray white then bright silver, then silver, and lastly black.. It really works great………..
I had a little difficulty with the decals but I am very pleased with the overall feel and look of the car. This is a really an awesome car………………………
I look forward to hearing what you guys think, this really is a special car to me.

Looks fantastic, the pleasure was all mine putting that car together for you. There was a lot of mixing and matching and tweaking the suspension arms to get the right wheelbase and track width for the larger body. Looks absolutely perfect, nice panint Matt!!! Looking forward to future 'joint ventures'

Looks killer!! I've been in love with this body since first seeing it. I think this might be the first one I've ever seen completed. Definitely benefits from the silver/black backing. This should motivate me to get going on my Nostalgic Skyline :$ !! You have me nervous about those decals though- What kind of trouble were you having with them? Not laying flat?
toymkr73
thanks guys, steve really hooked me up with the chassis, i am not really a technical guy. he makes that side look easy!! OCD-as far as the decals go, you nailed it, I really had to work the hair dryer and the windex to get these guys to lay flat and go around the trunk curve. but overall i am tickled with this

Stunning Skyline and the chassis looks sweet too. Can't help but think it needs some RS Watanabes to really set it off though.
