This is a modified chassis with Grasshopper type-1 base.
I am modifying Grasshopper type-1 series chassis continuously since 1984.
It's just an long term experiment with my studies of chassis design or practice for my setting skill.
:) / Front suspension assembly of DT-02 is combined to Grasshopper chassis with homemade bracket.
Each rear suspension consists of DT-02's lower arm, TL-01LA's upright, DF-03 aluminum front damper and titanium turnbuckle.
For lightweighting, titanium axle and 48mm aluminum dogbone were installed (but of course they're too weak against impact).

The monocoque is almost as original but was reinforced some places, also I had to make a heavy-duty battery holder because Grasshopper often bombed the ground with his battery. LOL
/ / Fig7: A counter-gear consists of three parts.
TA05's aluminum spur gear holder, stainless 16T gear and TRF415MS's shaft. / / Fig:8
Each looks are different but both WR02 and Grasshopper are using same 50 tooth final-gear.
WR02 diff has metal inner-gears and a heavy-duty sealed case.
So, its effect is able to adjust by kind of sealed-grease, just like a viscous LSD.
5.0mm shafts which have spline were taken from a DT-01's junk.
TLT-01 drive cups are combined to them, finally. / / Movie is following URL prease watch and enjoy.
Thank you.

fantastic work and i enjoy look at your website. what oil and springs did you use for the DF03 shocks?

Grahoo

27-Mar-2007

Thanks, Toonz I am using 3 holes TRF teflon piston for both front and rear dampers. Now, front oil is #200 and rear oil is #300.
Then, DF-03's piston seems to need always hard oil but I think hard oil makes tuning difficult because it changes its effect by temperature.
So, I am using TRF damper's piston to this car. TRF's hole is smaller than DF-03's piston's hole and it made possible to use soft oil.

Thanks a million, for all.
I was really surprised by the praise of all of you.
This great honor is far more than I deserve.
I am sorry that I cannot give thanks individually.
But I think some persons are overrating my work,
I think I am an ordinary man,
and always I will take a time on the work that any one can do.
Anyway, I make your words encouragement. thank you!

Ingenious gearbox setup ... lovely.

Hi Grahoo, great car as always. When you say you used TRF pistons in the DF-03 shocks, are these the pistons for the touring cars or the ones for the TRF501X buggy? Thanks

Grahoo

18-Sep-2007

Sorry for delay, sim-san. Its pistons are for touring car shocks and 501 pistons seem too thick for DF-03 shock shafts.

24-Sep-2007

Thanks for the info. I always thought the pistons in the DF-03 upgrade shocks and the DF-02 upgrade shocks were the same as the touring car TRF pistons. I guess I was wrong.
