**PLEASE READ THIS** for anyone looking at this model displayed in my showroom and wondering if I will sell it? PLEASE DON’T ASK!!! I get numerous requests from TC members wanting to buy cars displayed in my Tamiyaclub showroom, and to be honest I get very annoyed when people ask to buy something that is clearly NOT FOR SALE!! This car is part of MY COLLECTION and as such I want to KEEP IT!! So please don’t Email on the off chance that I might sell it to you, if I want to sell any of my cars I will put them up for sale in my TRADE ROOM, so look there to see what cars I am prepared to sell otherwise don’t bother asking cos the only answer you will get is NO!!! thanks for reading this disclaimer. Regards wldnas.

HA! This will serve you all right for scoffing and me when I suggested the idea of looking to Fashion doll accessory vehicles as a possible source of alternative RC car bodies!

I’ve now got a Barbie VW Microbus and I’m not afraid to use it ; ) I didn’t cost me anything, I managed to acquire it as profit in a deal with Richard when I got him a MIB Monogram Tornado off Ebay, I sold that to him at cost and got the Microbus as an added extra, not bad Huh!

Anyway I’ve started to rip into it by first removing the body from the chassis before unscrewing the screws front and back and then undoing the clips on the sills, after a bit of cajoling it came off, first attempt at dropping it on my TXT-1 chassis showed that with a few small modification it would fit pretty much perfectly so out came the Dremel Multi and I started to hack away at the front and rear bumper skirting and wheel arch edges.

It didn’t take long before I’d removed the valances, cut out the notches for the bull bar guides to slot into and smoothed off the wheel arch edges, now it fits a lot better, I still have a long ways to go mind, I have to fully glaze the windows with thin perspex sheeting, I have to make some body mounting that will stick out the sides instead of the top, I have to make a large think plastic plate to fill in the huge sunshine roof aperture and most importantly of all I’ve gotta figure out what colour to paint it cos Pink….. just aint my colour : (

You guys might have laughed at me when I said I was planning on doing this, but whos laughing now : ) I cant wait to see the sheetheing looks of jealousy at Snetterton when I roll out my VW MONSTERbus ; )

Final result Say Hello to my VW MONSTER BUS. The Bus just before mutilation commenced. It didn't take much to render the bus topless. Now wadda yah think of that then! Its starting to look a lot better. And the VW wheeltrims are a perfect fit. Painting begins on the plastic body. The painted body is fitted to the chassis. A view of the rear quarter of the truck. On display at the Model active04 show stand.

Thanks to Netsmiths new search feature that I found this. Looks great. I too had been looking at similar idea. Have you seen the Bratz low riding caddy and now the new stretched Limo? Loads of details too like full dashboards and interior trim. Only concern I have is the plastic that they are moulded from seems quite 'greasy', have you tried to paint the shell yet? what paints work the best? Nice job, original and inspirational
