I have found that although the TL-01 is a great budget all round tourer/ rally chassis, the motor is very exposed and your new chrome tamiya super stock quickly becomes sand/ gravel blasted, i have also damaged capacitors on the motor end and even the endbell itself.

This little mod puts a piece of flexible but strong plastic 'plate' under the motor, attached to the small plastic piece in front of the motor by a couple of 3mm bolts. Ground clearance is not affected as can be seen. So far it seems to work a treat. I used modellers styrene sheet, but you could use any flat, flexible plastic around 1mm thick.

The TL-01 kit comes with a spare plastic piece that fits in front of the motor so you can always put the model back to 'original' spec after. Good luck!

Protects bottom and lower sides of motor underneath you can see the shape of the plate. view showing 2 bolts used to fix plate. side view, hardly affects ground clearance.

Thanks, i got fed up with wrecking the cosmetic appearance (and sometimes structure) of expensive motors. The tl-01 sticks it right out there for all the gravel/ rocks and dirt to pound!
