Well had a good day today, i seem to have done more today than in the past month or so! Good weather always makes me wana be outside messing with something. I took the outer rims off the last 'version' of these wheels, and used the inner rim from a set of TLT wheels as the outer rim on the carson touring car wheels. The wheels were painted in Peugeot Cossack Grey first and then the TLT rims glued on. Did ya follow that? I didnt ;-)
The centre caps came with the cheap wheels to start with, and suit the look perfectly i think.

Ive hated painting this body, every time ive put a fresh coat on something has gone wrong. Few weeks ago i put on a nice shiny coat of gunmetal grey on, left it to sit in the sun to set, came back a few hours later and the paint had lifted on the joins where the new bodywork has been added. But after sanding it down there was no sign of damage to the body at all... it was just in the paint. Sanded the body again..more paint..more problems. Decided to go with black this time, and then the filler id used to fill the hole on the bonnet where the blower had been decided to immitate bread n had risen up in the heat. I have a short temper and i nearly smashed the body up. In the end i decided to sod the filler and glued a sheet of plasticard over the entire hump in the bonnet, you can see the middle section on the bonnet is very slightly higher than a standard clod body would be. Ran some filler down the edges and then smoothed it all off. More primer, more paint, and the bonnet was near perfect. Deicded to have another go at a full respray and yet more problems! The 'gloss' black from halfords couldnt be arsed shining and decided to dry matt. Sanded it back completely n tried again, this time it was OK, so left to dry overnight and wet sanded the next day ready for lacquer. Its only on its second coat of lacquer now, and will be sanded again before i lacquer again and hopefully have it polished tomorrow night.
Onto the chassis, the front end was hacked off and new plastic put in its place for a better look. The original chassis had a really blunt front end, at least now it has some shape to it and wont dig into the ground as much. Back axle was painted satin black to get rid of the horrible plastic shine.
The interior is from a hilux, but has had to be shortened to fit it into the Blazer cab, and then the driver has had to be recessed into the seat for it to look right. Need to sort some mounting points for it yet but will hopefully get round to that tonight.
Anyway.... have a look at the pics and any commenst are appreciated!

I think you paint problems might be cos of dirt or grease on the body itself.. Try using some kind of degreaser or panel wipe from your local bodyshop.. Check my showroom out. Ive done a set of wheels like that (adding a dish) a couple a months ago and they make the origanal wheel look so much better. Your wheels came out really nice! That dish does look really good! Those wheels now suit that shell..!

Nice build m8, and im sure the pain will be worth it in the end. Any chance of a more detailed and pictured 'how to' of what you did to the wheels ?
Cheers - Brucie.

Nice work. Well done. Those wheels are so cool. I always struggle with paint finish, but its usually down to my poor prep! I'm also having a go at a k5. Just shortened the body at the mo. Gonna base it on a shortened mounty chassis(!!!) with a 3 speed scania box/tlt combination. God knows how I'll lash that lot together, but it'll be fun trying. Keep at it.
