Project FTO - Stage 2 - FF01 Chassis (brushless)
The FTO bodyshell is at Kamtec for reproduction, so I thought I would grab myself a front wheel drive chassis as a start point (got to be fwd as FTO's are).
This was originally a Volvo FF01, but is slowly being transformed. The red chromed wheels came with the chassis.
Just to be different I decided to test run the chassis (after a full strip and rebuild) with my Novak brushless setup and the Boxster shell you see in the last photos.
Incredibly, this thing has much better traction than my fwd M03 minis. It actually seems to suit the brushless power delivery nicely.
Of course, I will add a video at some point, but didn't have time today.
Just need to pick up some rear body mounts that aren't offset backwards.
Check the link at the bottom for the rest of the story so far...

These are by far tamiya,s best fwd chassis i have the later ff02 and its not as good even though it has more hop ups.I would like to see it with the brushless .running ..

Will get a video done as this thing is great fun! Waaay to tail happy though. Almost drifter style if you back off the throttle too fast :-D

Hurrah! Someone else adventurous(some would say mad) enough to put a brushless in an older fwd chassis. Mine's a m01, but still...

Can't wait to see it with the FTO shell !

I find my ff01 golf is more tail happy after i fitted the frp chassis maybe some weight at the back might help .

Thanks Amigamad. Will give it a try. Wonder whether it might create a pendulum effect though...

Did you get the body for this back yet? Have you tried different rate springs front and rear to try and get it more stable?

Unfortunately, the bodyshell is still in progress. Not tried any other springs, but the car is very stable already
