Oh no, I've broken something!
I thought I'd make use of the rubbish weather we've had over the bank holiday, and take my old monster beetle out for a run in the rain. These cars are serious fun on wet concrete - with little grip you can get them drifting, power sliding and doing dohnuts!
All was going well, untill the bug ran a bit wide, and at full speed hit a gate post!
I wouldnt normally go to all the effort of posting up pictures of a broken part - but as this kind of ties in well with my user name, i guess i have to live up to it now and again :-)
The front wheel hit the post, which sent the car sideways. I heard a loud cracking sound, and the steering was gone - the car still drove though! After I'd had enough of going in circles i inspected the damage. The K8 part has shattered, and the ball joint has pulled out of it. It still held together though so the wheel stayed on! While i was uploading the pics to my laptop i noticed the H1 part has also split apart where the suspension tie rod attaches.
So it looks like i'll be taking the old bug apart to get it running again. Luckily I've got plenty of spares for this chassis - just incase :P
UPDATE! I hate it when things are broken, so i fixed the bug the day after its little crash. The H1 part was badly damaged, so i had to take the chassis apart to get it out. Luckily i didnt have to take much off of the chassis, just the screws down the middle of the space frame. Its all fixed and ready to race once again!
