I have wanted a Hotshot forever, but they were always pricey at best. The closest I came was a junior version when I was 13ish :( . Then a few weeks ago the RE-RE was announced and all you collectors started selling them like crazy and Fleabay prices plummeted ( whooo hoo) so a shopping I went. I got this very lightly run (probably 5/6 runs ) original for £60 delivered !!! WHA HOOO and immediatly started the resto the second it came out of the box. I am well and truly chuffed with this, it looks great and drives very smoothly. I had only to replace the top deck of the chassy and 2 small screws the shell has a small tear which I have repaired and arrested from further travel and given it a fresh coat of paint. All that smashing alloy has been polished and that was about it. It even had the original mint window nets (which I have not put back yet ) and the mint original radio gear. It was a credit to its previous owners care. I would normally go a lot further with the shell EG replace it with a new one but I will wait untill the RE RE comes out for a cheap deal, as this is going to get well used. Contary to its technical faults this is still an original Icon of the 80s buggy world and looks and drives fantastically and is asthetically very pleasing too. The only immediate fault in its handling is a turning circle thats actually worse than a series landrover and thats saying something as 200 point turns in my old long wheel base still stick in my memory:) This will get run at the Ainsdale bash this weekend 17/06/07 so I will post action pics all being well. Be there or be square !

Congrats! I always wanted the Hot Shot as a kit but never got one. Luckily I did not buy the Royal Ripper clone... Instead, I got the Boomerang. Hope they will release the Boomerang again too.

That looks PERFECT...

I SOLD my original Hotshot in 1988 - when I needed to finance the purchase of a full-size car...

I'll be at Ainsdale later today. I plan on some full-size nostalgia...!
