Hex Adapters
Here's what you do when you're off work with a dodgy back.
Thinking of changing your wheels on you Pumpkin, Lunchbox, or anyone of the Tamiya early models with the rear disk wheel adapter. I thought I'd give this a try and see how it works out.
Part 1. Find some old hex wheel mounts that you don't want. Drill the centre out to suit diameter of Hornet/Grasshopper axle, and trim off the little plastic nibs from the side of the hex that sits against gearbox. You need to do this so when you glue the two hexs together, they sit flush.
Part 2. Find some extended hex wheel mounts as found on A parts from kit #58383 M04L Beetle. As in part one, drill centre out.
Part 3. If you've got one, use an old Hornet axle to align the two hexes. If not, just use the eye-om-metre. Grab your pottle of Loctite 401, (or similar) and run it along the joining edges of the two hexes. Leave to cure for suggested time. Then take for test run.
I guess the same application could be used for exsisting hex drive R/C's, if you wanted to give a wider stance. Don't really know, `cause I haven't tried it.

Hi,it`s part (#53913),got some a while a go...not used them yet though.I tried it with two hexes last year and it works fine! The other thing i tried, was a hex, then the wheel then another hex to make up the difference...works ok but loses the width on the rear.

If you ever buy HPI truck wheels it comes with an adapter for lunchbox/hornet fitment.
