Not Tamiya or a car but I love it!
This has been a long term project thats almost complete, 90% is made from scratch, The hull was a prototype given to me 4 years ago, engine is a wren mw54 gas turbine. Its 1/6 scale and a replica of Donald Campbells Bluebird, for more info on the real thing go to www.bluebirdproject.com theres a video of a static engine test of the model there as well in the diary section.

Wow, that is really awesome.
The Hobbymaster
very nice project!!
At 1/6th scale you would only need to hit 49.5mph to make a scale run if my maths are right.
how much thrust is that wren pushing out?
I can't wait to see some more videos
best wishes
Ian

Cheers guys, the engine puts out 12.5lbs of thrust at 160,000rpm, Haven't had chance to get this one up to speed yet, but built one with a freind that is doing 35 - 40 mph approx

Nice boat, she may have been made by Speedline models. They have made a number of these and some others for Gina Campbell herself. Check my link: [Click here]

Jedi Master, you are correct, the hull was given to me by Adrian of Speedline we live in the same town and used to be friends. Have uploaded a couple of pictures of how I got it, This is its 4th engine now it's had 1 Glow and 2 Zenoahs all prop driven in the past. Thanks again for the kind comments when I finally get it at speed on the water I'll post some video

Very nice, but the original Bluebird wasn't jet powered, was it? Not that it matters, the boat looks awesome!
stickerbod
The original 1:1 Bluebird was powered by a Beryl Turbo Jet until its Final ill-fated record attempt on which it was powered by a Bristol Sidley Orpheus Turbo Jet both were pure thrust power as is the model

That is one of the nicest objects on TC. Get that video up!! Love the fact you start it occassionally in the garden LOL

I tell you mate you should hear it! One of the scariest toys I've ever played with, still haven't got used to it, still waiting to give it a proper run at the moment, its too cold for the gas...and me!

Road Burner
This thing blows me away, it looks amazing! My friends grandpa, Joe Schaefer, was killed on Aug. 28, 1939 on the Detroit river while piloting the Delphine IX. Your model looks a lot like his did, thanks for a great boat.

Have you beat the full scale top speed yet? There was some guys in the last R/C airplane club I belonged to that had the turbine planes. They were amazing! This is the first turbine R/C boat I have seen! You are the master!!!
