Started with a set of wheels (now on rear of this Hot Rod) How could I use them on a scale car? Normal 1/10ths were far too wide to sit a 1/8th scale shell (maxx / savage size) using these wheels....needed a narrow 1/10. Used the stock M04L chasis and lengthened it by 3 inches using various parts from other cars and bits from the workshop - all home made ! (that's a first for me !)

First build was ok but the front wheels were too narrow and caused the car to spin out, so...set of crawler wheel wideners for the front and now it handles really well. It's built for a stright blast but it's not bad around the bends.

Running standard electrics for now, with a buggy motor for a little more torque and 17T pinion.

Topped off with a Dodge Charger shell from an HPI savage - just need some General Lee decals to finish off ?.. Inspiration from this year's MOPAR event at Santa Pod where a 1:1 scale ran really well down the 1/4 mile.

I think there's a gap for a 1/8th scale electric car, especially with the emegance of Brushless and lipo batteries - power shouldn't be an issue.

Would the M04L drive train and gearbox take a brushless setup I wonder?...

Hope you like it?..

Cool wheels. Rear view is mean! A black fake under guard in the font might help fill the side view space a bit.

If you need some more rear tires after your burnout runs, I have two pair. I think the M could pull off a brushless, but you better buy universals and have someone machine the main gear out of some metal. It would be fun to hear the gearbox meltdown though, buy a heatsink to keep the hear warpage factor down.
