Not a car but a bit of great RC history I thought I'd share. This was the first ever commercially available RC helicopter released in 1981, made by Ishimasa and marketed in Europe by Graupner.
Powered by two 540 motors it has a flying time of 4 minutes from a 7.2V battery, for longer times there are instructions on how to fly with a large battery on the ground and a 20m cable !!
The blades are wood and main construction aluminium. I've ran it but not flown, to be honest it scared the hell out of us !
I bought two together, the second had been built and is in pretty good condition, 99% complete.
If anybody is interested the second one is for sale or trade against something else old and interesting.

Your right that is an interesting discovery I can imagine it fitted with guns and trying to kill Roger Moore in an old James Bond movie

It's all set up with Futaba gear and vitage gyro and we will try it, biggest problem is breaking the wooden blades I guess. It's a bit of an old school masterpiece for me.

Very nice and interesting piece of history you have there. I wonder how it would fair with a new LiPo battery pack and such.

I think it's the first ELECTRIC RC helicopter, right? Lovely model! Gas powered helicopters were available before 1981 (Kavan Jet Ranger 1972)

You could be right, there doesn't seem to be much info about it on the internet. I managed to find it on one site which said very little other than the info above ! Still love it though.

Wow it looks cool with all the aluminium, i think it actually represents a Lama heli pretty nicely!! Come to think of it, the gyro in this must be very rudimentary.. I sure wonder how hard this must be to fly, having just bought myself a 450 size electric heli with all the fancy modern electrics and space-age carbon parts and still not having a clue how to control it! =P
