Anyone who has run in a vintage 3 speed gearbox using a light spray oil will know (unless you have gaskets) they leak! So if like me you work indoors you need something to stop the drip drip of oil.

I use 2 aerosol lids as axle stands and then attached to the front lid is a cut out roof and windows of an old lexan body shell (I use a Mazda speed 6). I have taped up the aerial hole and the transponder hole then taped the windscreen onto the lid. Note at the back it's important to keep the universal joint and drive shaft clear of the aerosol lid - picture 3. It's also quite handy to keep loose screws and nuts in the aerosol lids while working on the truck.

Now with this set up I am safe to thoroughly oil and run each gear then leave the 3 speed knowing I won't come back to a ruined shelf / desk / carpet etc...

This is a very good tip. You should put it into the tutorials so more people might see it. I picked up the hilux part in the end and put a golden coin in the fund . Ta bud
