The Miller Matsuda S-RC is OUT NOW!
Well, after the amusing discussion on the forum whether the Super Champ is an SRB or not, I came up with the idea of an SRC, a Special Racing Car for the road.
I always wanted to design my own car and now all the pieces came together.
I got my inspiration from the Ariel Atom, Sandrails and the Spyker F1 car (see pic at the bottom).
I started with a 1 mm. custom made carbon fibre chassis based on the Tamiya F103 chassis (+gearbox, front suspension and wheels), after that I added the alu tubes which were all hand-bended around a template to get a nice round curve.
The 8mm alu tube around the car is a left-over from an old TV antenna and is brushed (3M pad, dark gray) to get a nice finish (it also masks small scratches/dents).
The rest of the tube-frame is made of 6mm alu tube which I put in a strong alkali (10% NaOH solution) to get rid of the anodised layer (paint doesn't stick very well to anodised surfaces).
All the tubes are screwed together (hamered bamboo wood into the tubes to be able to scew the screws in).
The bumper is made of PPE and will (hopefully) avoid damage...you never know where you may run into...;-)
The seat is made of a cell-phone holder, the steering wheel is from a 1/12 Porsche 935.
The lights are made of LEDs (not working yet) cuz it gives a nice modern design look.
Building time was around two weeks.
The car is going to be driven but will be pretty uncontrollable (also cuz I'm not an experienced driver...duh!).
It has a gear ratio of 1:3,68 (70/19) but with that insane Novak Velociti 3,5R it will be fast with EVERY gear ratio...!
I will post a vid when I go racing with 'The Boys'.
Till then, enjoy the pics! Hope you like it.

Fantastic mate!!! Fantastic.

Looks extremely cool! Would be nice with a driver of some sort also.
It will also be funny to watch the video, when you get it uploaded.
Also, it resembles the look of some of the models from 'LEGO' racer-series i think.
Cheers..

I cant believe my eyes! The design is fantastic and the build great: a piece of art! Looking forward to the video with 1/10 of the throttle open. (otherwise we wont be able to see it..)

Thx for all the nice comments gents! Yes, indeed, I'm looking for a 1/10 driver...
Hmm, maybe I should build a Stig...

very clever credit to you!
Prachtig!

DeeMiller
@Arjen: yup, that's your F103! No problem, you'll be there!
Sweet car Dee! Any plans to add lexan to cover up the electronics and stuff?

Very neat creation Dee, it does look like it will be a handful to control

DEE! I want to RACE that! When you move onto the supercharged version then you could lease this 'development hack' ;-D to me for one weekend later this year and I will enter it into the winter cup and get a video of it, and return both to you!
It is SUPERB!!! We all LOVE your work dude!!
DeeMiller
LOL@Singapore! Charged? Over charged yes.
