1988 CAT XLS 'SRM'
This car and me go back to the early 90's. My first proper 4WD racecar was a Procat (along with half the UK back then). A kid who used to come along and watch the local club racing told me they knew somebody who had a Procat I could have for spares for £25. This sounded too good to be true, and sure enough when I paid him, it was. I got something that had Procat like bits but definitely wasn't a Procat. I could see it had hardly been used (if at all) but the chassis was wrong, the rear suspension was different and the bodyshell looked strangely old fashioned after the swoopy, curvy 'bubble domed' cockpit Procat.... knowing nothing about the CAT XLS back then (being too young to have ever seen one racing) I left it in the cupboard for the next 20 odd years. 8 years ago I found it in my parents house and whilst trying to find out what it was on the internet, I discovered eBay. Oh dear....that was an expensive move. Anyway, this car more than any other got me into retro RC collecting.

Dont know if you already know but SRM was a tiny RC shop In Fareham. It was one tiny room above a pet shop.I used to go in there to look around and buy parts in the eighties.Although it was small they stocked everything you could want. They made hop ups for all the popular cars at the time.Im pretty sure RW racing is the same bloke,as the packaging is identical to the old SRM card headers.
