Why? Well, why not!
This is my modded pumpkin, now powered by a Castle Sidewinder Brushless ESC and 5700 kv Brushless motor.
Testing has revealed that I haven't got enough room outside to even reach half throttle.... testing down the street revealed the road isn't long enough.... testing at the Eastern Bash today revealed there isn't enough flat terrain at red lodge to go anyway near top speed.... I need a run way ;-)
The 5700 kv revs up to something like 53000 rpm. Top speed for stock geared trucks is 40 mph. For some reason Castle don't include details on gearing a midnight pumpkin for brushless power though ;-)
My truck is now totally bonkers and I love it! It wheelies like no tomorrow, and still wheelies even when accelerating at speed. With the wheels off the ground I can't even push it to half throttle, as the tyres balloon out too much!
I've got tons of spare parts ready, just in case something decides to give up. Though i hope i never find out what a 35 mph midnight pumpkin crash looks like!
The Castle Sidewinder is great value, costing just under £90 delivered to the UK from the USA. It comes with the same motor as castles more expensive Mamaba Max setup, but when used with Nimh packs it kicks out the same power (the mamba max is able to take full advantage of lipo power)
Brushless Pumpkins, whatever next!!!

What's this? 3 3 wires to the motor can only mean... Over the top motor!!! Nice compact ESC

NICE man,
that thing is crazy, you need some vids of it running.
if you put the pinion from the hornet in, 16T, it will have more top speed.

Cheers guys! I think it needs a spoiler to stop it taking off, and a parachute to slow it back down!

That is one fast ride. I use a 17T pinion on my Pumpkin instead of the Hornets 18T. We clocked my MP on the radar gun this past friday and with the 17T pinion and a Tamiya SS RR motor it did 25 mph. I have never tried the Hornets 18T pinion.

Ground control to major Everett, you are cleared for takeoff. I certainly hope you don't find out what sort of crack up you would have at speed. Perhaps you could invest in a Parma Lexan shell before things get out of hand. Good luck.

We raced the brushless Pumpkin against my 17t powered Lunchbox today - 17t? I may as well have had a 80t motor in it for all the speed it had up against the brushless! It made mine look like it was going backwards!! Totally bonkers and I reckon the top speed must be way past 40mph!

It's mad isn't it!!! I'm thinking up some suspension mods at the moment, as the rear suspension keeps locking up. Go on skip, you know you want to buy a brushless setup now
