I watched an episode of Top Gear which featured buggies that were driven across the surface of lakes - in Iceland...

As my old Hornet bodyshell was worse than knackered after many years' 'abuse' - I thought I would do something different with a new one.

I got the remnants of a Midnight Pumpkin - and fitted the wheels and tyres to the Hornet - then painted it up in a bold colour scheme.
I may yet add a few sponsors' decals...

The model behaves brilliantly - as the track is so wide - and the wheelbase is effectively shortened...

It is near impossible to topple it over.

UPDATE.

I have now fitted my Hornet with Blackfoot wheels !

The tyres on them are older Pumpkin tyres - stretched gently so as to fit.

The sidewalls bulge a little - which adds a little more character...

With all the rain during last night - I think I shall try driving it on water...!

I will first waterproof the receiver and motor - with party balloons.

I also added a few paper stickers - though they will not last long in the wet...

Looks like it is a lot of fun to drive, nice paint scheme, maybe the sponsor could be the Cub Scouts if that is only a USA organization sorry.

Thanks, each for kind comments...
I was bought a decent digital camera for Christmas - so I shall have to give the 'across water' idea a try !
With all the air in those tyres, it might just...

This one looks very funny, must be fun to drive, but careful not to break the front arms.

Hello Ollie,

I've got spares !

It can be spun 'on a penny' in the wet... it's great.

Nice to see someone do something so original. Gives new life to the old Hornet.
