OK this wild little thing is a hybrid of 4 Tamiya models, Its started off life as a Fire dragon, I converted the rear hubs to Hex drive so as to fit Monster truck wheels ( cant remember where they came from i think they are freebies from a specialised rc magazine, so i bought 4 copies to gain 4 wheels he he) Originally wanted to go the whole hog and have 4 x monster wheels but turning problems wouldnt allow this without losing the front bumper, This wasnt an option in the timeframe as i wanted to keep the car fun and usable (and it is) so i opted for a set of Boomerang fronts. This made me decide to convert the car to two wheel drive with drive coming from the rear, A vain attempt at creating a wheelying buggy, The front end is just too heavy. The original fire dragon body is shot to pieces so my last challenge was to find a body to fit the car and suit it so after trying Boomerang, Wild dagger, Blackfoot, Kyosho pegasus and Grasshopper II i decided the grasshopper 1 looked most at home although it looked tame and boring in white.
So out came the masking tape and Newspaper and as anyone living in the UK knows painting outdoors is not the done thing at the moment so one bunch of flowers later and i was allowed to convert the dining room into a spraybooth. Opted for a loud orange to show the cars attitude, It has a very wide aggresive stance and although not the most stable to drive is still great fun, Will get some shots of it doing some jumps if torrential rain lets up over the weekend but win or lose this was a lot of fun to build (even if i now have RC parts all over the house)
