The Minerva Dragons - Steele Walker's Silvia

The Coppermix Silvia must be one of the best-looking shells Tamiya (or Nissan!) have ever made. When I decided to make a series of touring-car based models in tribute to the ficticious street-racing team, 'The Minerva Dragons', I knew that the Silvia had to belong to their enigmatic leader, Steele Walker.

Graphics were designed by me in PSP7 and printed onto clear vinyl sheet by Decal Designs (www.decaldesigns.co.uk - very reasonable prices and Kevin Waite is a pleasure to deal with). Most of the images I created myself, except the tribal dragon hood logo, which I downloaded from a Google Image search (no idea who created it, sorry!), altered the size and colour, and added my own text.

The graphics were designed in a very vivid green, so that they would still have some colour when laid over a red background. The result is a very deep green that sparkles with the metalic flecks in the underlying Tamiya Metallic Red. I really am very pleased with the result!

My only complaint about these decals is that the vinyl is very thick, so they don't form easily around body lines and need to be cut with a knife.

NOTE: Kevin can also print onto white vinyl sheet if your images are in the proper format. I will do this next time as I will be making some decals for black cars, watch my showroom for updates!
