Venom Motors - timing thoughts?
Foks, picture challenge for you - I just recieved these today for my Clod project - Dual Battery thanks to a Kyosho Perfex ESC. I went for Venoms as all the blurb I have read stated that they came wire up, with factory installed caps and 0 degree timing. Well, apparently the current batch at CML all are free of wiring and caps making me weary about the 0 timing question.
The 2 shots below show each motor and in my opinion they are set slightly differently - anyone think that this is going to be a problem in the clod? Do I need to adjust 1 to match 2?
Apart from that, the motors do exactly what it said on the tin!

i would adjust he timing, so it was equal on both (just to be safe)

My thoughts as well Luke to be honest - thought I would put it out there though! I will let that be a challenge for another evening when I am a bit more awake!

Just a suggestion. Most decent LHS should have a motor dyno. It may be worth the investment to get them tuned so they at least rev the same?
I know it used to make a huge difference when I used to race, and it was pretty common to be able to get another 5 - 10% more than the factory tune.

I used to run 2 13turn venom fireball motors in my clod and made sure they were both set the same (always a good idea) just wish my clod had been strong enough to handle the motors LOL

13 turn, now that was brave. Did the thing stay the right way up at all?

Looks like both motors are timed the same to me, compare the timing to the slots, not the sticky label that has been cut out differently on the two motors.
They should be set to the same timing; if you want more speed out of it, run the same degree of timing advance as on the front but reversed. You can check timing on these motors by ear, to find neutral apply voltage and listen to its pitch changes, and match the motors by listening to both spin at the same time and aligning the pitch.

Time them at 0. The 2 Team Orion 17x2 Method R motors I have are both at 0 timing. The rpm on my motors is within 800 rpm of each other.

Big thanks to all for comments, Terry quite rightly pointed out the discrpency with the labellling! Feel a right berk after spending a few minutes last night changing number 1! I will put it back to where it was and runb some juice through them both as per Rhen's comment. Thanks all.
