I took my family (wife and 11 month old daughter) and my newly restored Blazer for a 2 hour walk today: nice forest trials with some mud. Overall we walked for 2,5 hours with only 2 batteries: 1 x 3.900 mAh and 1 x 3.000 mAh.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The Blazer is definitely no shelf queen and also not original:
Suspension:
1. Bruiser leaf springs 2. Kyosho red shocks (Optima, changed to two sealing rings) - new front shock stay
Drivetrain:
1. Le Mans 360 PT motor 2. Crazy Crawler 1.9 tyres on Hilux rims (wider foam inserts), 6 mm wider wheelbase on front axle 3. new universal joints
Steering:
1. Bruiser knuckles 2. moved the connecting steering linkages behind the axle to avoid a negative Ackermann effect 3. 2 ball bearings on front steering arm 4. 2 ball bearings on servo-saver
Others:
1. Front Lights and rear LEDs 2. in addition front search lights 3. run it with 8,4 V, 4. body painted with gunmetal, steering wheel not original
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Overall this car makes a lot of fun. It is definitely no Crawler and also no Trialer (too heavy, suspension too stiff), but it is perfect for mud and light trials

awesome. that is proof you can enjoy your cars and keep them in good condition. not enough of these being driven. looks great in the mud with those tires. more people should take these great old models of the shelf and drive them. horray lowry!

Man, this is a nice one! I like the lights on these. Which spotlights are you using for this? The gunmetal looks great too!

Great looking Blazer! I never did care for the OEM roof much - yours looks much better, especially with the new tyres. Great pics too - love the third shot!

Hi guys, thanks a lot for your nice comments. The tyres actually perform pretty well. I wanted slightly bigger ones than the original tyres to increase the gorund clearance a bit. However if you take 110 mm diameter the torque of the motor might be not enough. The spotlights are from 'Conrad', a German Electronic and tool&die chain. I mounted the lights so that they would not be destroyed when the car rolls over.
To all who think about trying a 3speed- go for it.

Nice one Lowry. Good to see it out and running doing what it should. Like the mods especially the roof suits it really well
