My first crawler !!

So here it is,my first attempt at the crawler scene.The build went well but I wish that a few steps would be pre-built since they were a bit repetetive and boring.Novak Goat brushless system went in like breeze.Made a misstake when I ordered it and the high torque Futaba servo and forgot that the leads on the Futaba S3305 are so da-n short.Tried to find a extension lead all over town yesterday but with no luck. Ordered 2 from the GREAT guys at Nortrading in Norway today along with a can of PS-3 light blue.
Yes,I´m going for PS-3 despite it has been done by a few guys already. It had been great if the wheel-wells on body were pre-cut cause they were a bit awkward to get right. Wheel painted with TS-?? gun metal and rockrings with clear orange ( idea stolen from Seth ) I can see myself wanting some option ally shocks in the future. I´m sure that there will be loads of aftermarket option for the CR-01. Nice to see that side mirrors were made in softer plastic to prevent breakage.Dont know how driveshafts will hold up , they seems a bit 'toyish' and maybe thats why Mr.T included a extra set of the plastic parts !?
It would have been nice with some extra off-road sponsor decals.

man, you work quick. i was worried about the drive shafts too, but they are pretty plyable, and bend quite a bit, so maybe they will be ok. the truck really isnt that heavy either, which was a big surprise, that may also help with the load on the shafts, even with the torque it puts out. looking forward to seeing it done.

Like the wheels! You`ll want another servo in there soon.I do already and ive only used it 3 times.It gets stuck and having the rear wheels steering would help. Dont think ive ever used bearings as big as the ones in the gearbox,theyre huge!

I read about 4WS on page 10 in the manual but I didnt quite understand it,do you need to go 3 channel ??

you can probably use a splitter like they use in airplanes. hobbyshops usually stock them because they are common. i opted to go with smaller wheels and tires instead of 4ws.

Looks great Olle, I love mine, nothing wrong with using blue Toyota painted them that color so you're not borrowing anything from any of us who painted it that way already
I'm personally not a fan of the 4ws on trucks, its not legal if you ever want to enter a crawling comp. I used it on my f-350, Clod Gecko and on a Txt-1 and every time I changed it back right after one run

Yeah,I`m with you and Seth,it looks MUCH better with smaller wheels. I guess I´ll have to wait and see what Santa brings around christmas. My hobby budget is shot to pieces by now

Paint on its way from Norway. Funny thing : I read threads about that TS spraycans were withdrawn in UK,they are easy to find here in Sweden but PS is IMPOSSIBLE to find. Most annoying indeed >

I have a few cars just waiting for PS paint to be complete. It's impossible to find PS black or gun metal in Norway. I have been told that Tamiya are out of stock and nobody knows when it will be available again...Frustrating!

Hobby Company (Tamiya's UK Distributor) has recalled all TS and AS spray paints and the following brush on paints:
PC12, X10, X11, X12, X13, X31, X32, X33, XF16, XF56
This is due to a labelling issue which Tamiya are correcting.
Until further notice, these paints will not be available. It is understood the revised paint will not hit the UK until MARCH 2009

2009 !!!??? Oh,sh-t ! I dont know if this is already done in Sweden ?? The lack of PS spray is , to the best of knowledge , plain and simple uninterest from swedish agent !! They suck !!

I know that some of the Norwegian shops got loads of PS paint in April, but not black or gun metal... One of them told me that they will import a different label for black paint in the future...March 2009....unbelievable!

Sorry for filling up your showroom with comments about lack of paint, without comment your nice build =) Love the rims. I've seen these rockrings before, but haven't figured out what they do...

The rockrings has two functions : 1. they hold the tire to the rim. 2. they protect the rim when you have to lean the car against rocks.
