Hey guys,,,,,,
played around with my NIB Cobra kit for the last year and a half....Opened the box a dozen times saying, Hmmmm, build it, or keep it NIB?? Decided I am going to build it, with a scollins twist of course! (Can't resist screwing with perfectly vintage and rare NIB kit) After studying the chassis and the selection of NIB bodies I have available from the Nostalgic Series (Vette, Skyline, original Cobra body from the kit, and the Daytona Coupe) I decided that the Daytona coupe was the best fit. After doing the Kokuzu wheel trick on the original kit chassis the Cobra body had the tires sticking out waaaay too much all around. Dang, I really did not want to break the kit up. Well, the tires only stuck out a little bit on the rear when I used the Daytona Coupe, even with the rear rims being the 'wide' versions. (Which look absolutely sweet) Turns out the Daytona Coupe body is significantly wider even though it is also 1/9th scale. This tire ugliness problem was solved by experimenting and getting lucky with some Tamiya TL01 dogbones which fit perfectly into the Kyosho drive cups in the rear. Now I just need to make some upper camber links that are shorter and get some shock mounts fabbed up so I can mount some 'real' shocks on this Mantis chassis........ Follow the pics if you are interested in copying this idea on your Kyosho chassis. See ya soon,, scollins

I will try, but with all of my projects I take my time and let all the best ideas brew up before I get-r-done. I need to take a week off work just to catch up on R/C projects....Yea, thats not gonna happen.

Very nice Steve, I wouldn't worry about breaking up a Vintage kit, your projects always look better than what the manufacturer makes anyway, thats why there called kits yah get to build them how yah want or something Sweet machine even in clear though...yowza

There is ,almost, nothing worse than see cars with tires hanging out like you show in pic 1 and its so GREAT to see innovative guys like you presenting a solution for it.

Looking good there. The Tamiya 2 pc wheels looks great well with Kokuza trick. Maybe i will apply that to my 250 GTO.
