Meticulously restored monster beetle
This was a tough resto. My mistake was starting off with a bad shell. It was painted black so thickly it took two months in brake fluid to take it off! However, to my delight I discovered it was an original red mold. After thoroughly cleaning the shell (which took days), I decided to keep the plain red mold. After all, what is the point of spraying a red shell with red? I felt Tamiya made it this way to save you the paint job, so spraying it would decrease its collectible status. However, to restore the shine, I sprayed it with Future floor wax - a trick I learned at the local IPMS club. The result was fantastic. Original decals cost a small fortune but were necessary. The result is in front of you. Thanks for looking, comments welcome!
