Realistic Pumpkin truck - Work in progress 8
Finally received the Beetle rims for my F100 project. As spotted before, M-chassis standard rims are too wide to obtain a good fit with the smoothee (ihmo), so I reduced them from 24.5mm to 19mm using a small lathe. Then I glued them back together, de-chromed and oversprayed with grey primer and matt-white. Other small progress in the bench, painted and assembled, now ready to fit on the cockpit (still working on it). Finally decided on the hidden body binds, I used 4 graphite plates along with 2 metal posts to drive the body in place and secure it to the chassis using snap pins. At first I tried with velcro, but I was unhappy with it, too inaccurate and sloppy for my taste. All went together nicely, by now I'm working on the cockpit (I find a globe liner steering wheel for it), on the rear exaust and on a side view mirror; more on this later!
