Well this is one of those XRC cheap rc model shell bought from a TC member in china, i had it last year and was going to put my XC chassis under it, but the hummer chassis is such a perfect fit that i thought sod it, why mess with whats meant to be!
So after working out the correct ride height from my own 90, (cos i have seen so many way too high ) i figured that i really only needed to remove the rear mounts and as i didn't want the post through the body type of mount that ruins so many great looking models, i stumbled across some of those corner blocks that kitchen cupboards are put together with and thought BINGO, time to rethink mouting, so as you can see in the pic they work great, screwing up into the floor, and into the side of the chassis tub, which is the stongest bit, the rear is secured by another block, which screwed to a sandwich block of wood the right thickness, the tub/interior was then secured to the body shell with two hidden screws behind the spare wheel, and a couple of metal right angle brackets secure the body to the floor just under the doors, and presto one beautifully mounted body.
The hummer chassis was fitted with some Hi lift wheels i got off ebay, a full bearing kit, and a new ESC for that ultimate control, and to finish it off i made an aluminium front bumper and epoxy'd that to the front on a break away mount, the A bar is off a grasshopper or something, cant remember but it looks good and helps protect the front, and on the rear i attached aluminium angle to the crosmember mounting screws inside the shell to beef that up a bit, the bodies are great and detailed, but i think like all hard bodies they will be a bit on the brittle side (just ask any hummer owner who broken off the bottom of the grill first time out!!) then as i didnt want the wagging puppy tail look i mounted a spring loaded antenna on the front wing and shortened it to look like a cb or radio aerial . i really like the look of this landy and the gun metal silver has grown on me in the day it took to do the project, so until it is so scratched that it needs a make over,(thats when it will be a 90 wolf) i am going to leave it just the way it is, all i will do to it is add working lights and a driver, and drive it and have fun with it, as all rc stuff should be, no shelf queens in my collection!! well enjoy, thanks for looking.
If you liked those pictures, you should see these...
Not Quite a 90, but till i get one this will do!

That looks really good Where you get the shell from as i've been looking at some abs ones and they have no way near the detail of this one. I agree with you shelf queens what a waste these are rc models not static models. So lets have some running pics

Very nice landy Dave, sure its not OD but it looks great anyway Have to agree about using the hummer, why do all kinds of chassis work if you don't have too it looks great on there

Thanks Guys, yes i am saving the XC chassis for something more fitting, the hummer chasis fits so much stuff that it's hard to beat for a project chassis, it's also perfec for the clod body, and the kamtech 110 truck cab shell, the body is an XRC shell from a TC member in China, he is sold out right now but looking for more, they crop up now and then on ebay, so keep your eyes peeled, the detail and scale is great, even the interior is vey detailed, so well worth the money if you see one, get it! cheers, CC
