I bought this car very cheap on ebay. It was cheap because the rear wishbone carrier was broken. But as I have many parts from different buggies in my parts box I thought it should be possible to find a replacement there. It once belonged to a Multiplex Cool Racer, now it fits the Chadory perfect.

The car has been built and driven maybe two times before the wishbone carrier broke and the car was offered for sale because it did not meet the requirements of the seller. He wanted a cheap car for club racing, but as this car did not survive the test drive he decided to sell it. By the way, these cars were sold for about 40 Euro NIB on ebay, cheaper than a used car.

I don't know how the previous owner managed to break the wishbone carrier, but he gave the car a ugly set up, way too soft on the front, bouncing after jumps on the rear. Driveable and maybe good for a bumpy track, but far away from a good and fast setup. But it is very silent, you don't hear the car. Maybe because of the installed Robbe Le Mans 360 PT (same as Kyosho, but with a gold alloy armature, bling-bling), but also because of the gearbox, which is running extremly silent and efficient. I took the battery pack I acquired together with my Monster Beetle spare chassis and put it into this car. Funny thing is, the battery pack has been sold by Hype also, so it fits this car perfect. Despite of its age (around 2005 or 2006, 1800 mAh NiCad) it delivers quite a punch and I drove around 10 minutes with it, not bad considering I only wanted to empty it after shipping so I could charge it good. While the battery is recharging I will alter the setup of the car to make it react more direct and precise and I will install a motor guard I found in the Cool Racer spare parts box, I think this car needs it.

I crashed the car after 2 days, destroying the front left upright. But the ones from my Cool Racer spare part lot fit perfect, only some minor grinding was needed. I think the car is a successor of the Cool Racer. I made photos of the broken part and the replacement part next to it that show this very good, the parts are nearly equal.

Looks like all the others Well known and proven chassis layout Big gearbox, but running very smooth. Chadory (black) and Cool Racer (white-grey) Same part?

Cool, it^s a Multiplex Cool Racer

Hi i have just got one of these - but mine is called Protech booster, the set up is all wrong any way - just the way it comes and the decals etc are apalling, but as you say it's cheap got mine for £28 NIB 2 weeks ago - thought i could do something with it to make it look nicer and drive better - still haven't yet though.

Hi Matt, I think this car has a different name in every other country it is sold. Yesterday I broke the front upright on the left side, and, surprise, surprise, it can be replaced with the much tougher one (nylon reinforced) from my Cool Racer spare parts lot, perfect fit. I think this car is some kind of successor of the Cool Racer or Valiant II (the not so rare, later version with upper deck and transversal mounted battery but without nylon parts), because many parts of the Cool Racer or Valiant II will fit the Chadory or Booster or whatever.

After the crash I disassembled and rebuild the shocks and now the car handles better. Just some soft oil and a different position is all that is needed to make it work better. And some tougher parts in some places.
