been thinking of getting one of these for a while. Fancied doing a bruiser, but went for a gunmetal and silver combo for something a bit different. Excellent tamiyaclub repro decals.
Original wheels and tyres had to go, as they are awful !! fitted with monster beetle tyres and HPI classic king chrome wheels.
Got rid of the dark chrome using nail polish remover, next thing to do was to paint the front bumper and diff covers.
hope you like it

SMOKE-DOG
Nice color. Looks good.
the green beetle
Nice choice for the Wheels and tyres, had them to,but they are stil in backorder!! MMM this is Hog Heaven!
caddy shack
Mike thats yota heaven top job fella, this is how tamiya should have done the box art not the surf board one.
backtomyroots.
Great job ! Perfect combination of goodies with some old & some new. Sweet .
Naxman
Looks simply fantastic!! Great job!!
flux density
Looks really cool with the tire and rim change
dr.roberts
Nice! I like it.
Wyoming
Nice work, looks a little better than the stock Bruiser to me, with those more scale bumpers and no weird cab in the bed. Sweet!
Corpse Thrower
Awesome, well done!!
Vin87
I like it very much. Original wheels are awful indeed. Your wheels/tires make it look like a mountaineer with bruiser decals.
johnyboy76
i like this lot. tamiya really should re-re the bruiser or mounty!
steve3smart
It looks great. Well done, I really must get one.
mersey_mike
Thanks for all the comments. I am quite pleased with how it came out. really pleased with the front bumper, as I hated the silver monstrosity, bit of black paint and hey presto. Just gotta take it to the beach. Now where did I put that surfboard ??
ukzz4iroc
Looks great Mike. Colours work really well!
Andersop
thats the mutts nuts!
Mouton
I would have liked it a lote more without the Bruiser decals. Now it looks more like a Bruiserwannabee than what it is - another cool Toyota from Tamiya. It is cool in its own right so there is no need to dress it up to look like somethings it is not.
CASE1
good colours! Like the black front bumper.
ukzz4iroc
I disagree with Mouton, though I see his point. I think it looks cool and tongue in cheek with the decals. I never looked at it and thought wanna be Bruiser, just 'that looks cool'
mersey_mike
Yeah, didn't really have the wanna be bruiser in mind, that's why I went for the silver decals.
Like the look of the big customised trucks (monster beetle/blackfoot/etc. etc. etc and my painting skills are such that decals are required I'm afraid.

What a cool looking toyota, very nice work!
def4x4
Nice color on your hilux. great truck.
amigamad
I like it for a minute i thought it was an original bruiser.
Tobbe70
I like it, the colors are great and personally I think the decals suits it just perfect! Rock on
mongoose1983
I thought mine was the most beautiful Toyota High-Lift I've seen, until I saw yours. Just one BUT: why don't you try original Bruiser tires?
Yeah, this is the best Toyota High-Lift I have ever seen. Good job, Mike!!!!
Best regards,
EB

I think that looks A++ to me. I love the gunmetal look with the silver stickers. Kinda like black on black, but not black... personaly if I was a Bruiser I think I would wanna be the Hilux, not the other way around. Love it love it love it, and the wheels too mmmm..
mersey_mike
Mongoose, agree with you. Been tryiong to get bruiser or original blackfoot tyres, but they are hard to find for a reasonable ammount. these will do for the meantime. THis is due to be a runner anyway, so may not look like this for long !!
Blacque Jacque
Fantastic, I may just have to pilfer some of your ideas for my Hilux (when it arrives)
