How to paint a drivers head
I am chicken when it comes to painting a Tamiya drivers head ! I have three heads lying in the parts-box for two years (!) but I just finished painting the first one. I dont know why I thought it would be so hard cause I dont mind painting the cars. Or painting anything else like my house...
Anyway this tutorial is meant to encourage anyone who thinks a nice Tamiya should have a driver. But has not yet started building them in. Like me, I have some Tamiya's but the drivers still need to follow!
For a lot of TC members this How To will not help cause there are many more skilled painters around, but just helping the starters like myself.
At first it did not work well because I had a brush that is to big It looks very small but for the eyes I needed smaller: I bought the smallest they had in the modelling-store. From that on it was a lot easier.
In my opinion the best order is:
1 first paint the complete head in colour of the helmet.
2 Then paint the complete face in skin-colour.
3 Then the black foam inside the helmet and the eyebrows.
4 The white from the eyes.
5 The big dot with colour of eyes, like blue.
6 At last the small black eye-dot in the middle. Firts test the size of the dot on a piece of paper.
Enjoy the hobby everyone! Build on.

Try using a pin or match filed down for the eyes when painting i found it better than using the finiest brushes you can buy, looking good now

that looks good. it takes time but it is worth it. @dale- you can use a dark visor instead of painting.

Nice paintwork to the driver. but for the eyes you can try it witch a coctailpricker. you got to try it then you wil see it works too.

Great thet you wrote this guide. Every Tamiya should have a drver imho
Tip: to increase realism, use semi-gloss for the black area, and use a gloss paint for the helmet
