Blazing Star built from all new parts - not a kit.
I inadvertently managed to delete this model from my showroom the other morning - whilst I was editting...!
So...
I built this Blazing Star obsessively...
The TA-01 chassis is probably my favourite. :)
Almost all the components were bought from Tony's Tamiya Parts over a period of around 6 months.

You can imagine the total cost...! ;)
The white parts ( suspension arms, servo mounts, etc. ) are a pair of 'rare' D sprues moulded in white. Those were bought from Tony for me... they alone were £30 !
The shock absorbers are from my Monster Beetle which now has a 'Scorcher' body.
That has oil-filled shocks from an Academy Griffin 2WD buggy.
To continue my theme of it looking a little different, I got red gearboxes, and fitted Hilift tyres.
The 'Hilux' wheels that I fitted temporarily were replaced with the correct 'Celica' wheels, which came from another shop.

The red rings around the shocks are from a Bush Devil.
Note my use of a brace across the front shock-towers... as I have done with my Manta Ray.
The Blazing Star has an almost unique look - with large tyres and a low body. :D
If you liked those pictures, you should see these...
Marvelous Manta...

TA-Mark
Blazing Star is actually a DF01 not a TA01. My favourite buggy chassis too.

...that might well be the case - but I bought parts in packets labelled 'TA-01'.
Perhaps mine - like your yellow one - morphed into a DF-01 whist I assembled it - without me knowing...? Either way - it makes little difference - it's still great.

I am going to have to double check my parts now for my build. I haven't bought anything for a DF-01 chassis and I plan on building this model too. I won't be able to buy all the pretty colored parts though. I am pretty sure aside from the wheels that this is a Manta Ray based chassis, so it would be close to the original TA01 chassis before the word touring came into use.

Chris,
I'd not bother !
Before I decided to build this Blazing Star, I had bought a box of 'used' parts labelled 'TA-01' - and from them, I made the Focus in my showroom AND another Manta Ray - which I gave away !
The grey chassis and red gearboxes of my Manta Ray are 'retro-fitted':
With the rest of the 'bits', I rebuilt my old Manta Ray onto a grey chassis - with red gearboxes and TWO ball diffs
Consequently, it is not as original as it was when I got it in the summer of 1991 - but which 17-year-old 'runners' are ?
( See my description of my Manta Ray )
I got everything for this model by buying new-in-packet items from 'Tony's Tamiya Parts' - as mentioned above.
See his tc member profile - he runs 'the second largest Tamiya Parts Supply Business on Ebay'.
I bought things listed in his TA-01 section - because I specifically wanted the same red gearboxes that my Ford Focus and Manta Ray have...
But for the varying colours - the chassis of my Blazing Star is EXACTLY the same as that of my 'original' Manta Ray - with the yellow tyres.
When I ordered new parts for the Blazing Star, I saw no grey TA-01 bathtub chassis advertised... so I got a Black Manta Ray one.
Those things in Tony's TA01 & TA02 section which are not Manta Ray related - such as the different shock absorbers and their mountings, the longer suspension arms and drive shafts, etc. - are in a seperate Manta Ray/Top Force/Evo section.
Manta Ray vs TA-01 ?
Aside from the wheels - and driveshafts and such - only the A, B, D and E sprues are different from one another.
As there is NO section for buying parts for a DF-01 chassis... one has to assume that it and the TA-01 are actually one-and-the-same thing - apart from the mainly suspension-related variations...?

Very nice car Well done!
